Jules’ Diner – Homemade Barbecue Sauce

BBQSauceIf you’re going to do Barbecue or BBQ or even Q, please take a few minutes to make your own sauce.  It’s sooo worth the effort.

Here’s my own recipe, which is a Kansas City-style sauce.  You won’t want bottled after you try this.

1 medium yellow onion, minced
1 tbsp granulated garlic
2 tbsp butter
1 cup dark brown sugar
1 cup water
1 cup ketchup
3 tbsp apple cider vinegar
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tbsp liquid smoke (I prefer Colgin brand hickory)
1 tsp prepared yellow mustard
2 tsp chili powder
1 tsp paprika
1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
1 tsp kosher salt
1/2 tsp black pepper

•  In a sauce pan, saute’ the yellow onions over medium heat until tender.  Add remaining ingredients, reduce heat to low simmer and stir until well combined.
