Jules’ Diner – Dot’s Chocolate Sauce

I hesitate to divulge this recipe, as it is a cherished family secret. But! Because I love ya’ and because it’s sooo darn good I’ll go ahead and share it. This is my paternal grandmother’s recipe and my family has made it for years. I love a dab of it on pound cake or with vanilla ice cream. You won’t want store-bought after you try this.  Enjoy!

Dot’s Chocolate Sauce

1 cup sugar
1 tbsp flour
4 tbsp cocoa
1/2 cup milk
Pinch salt
2 pats butter
1/2 tsp vanilla

Place first five ingredients in a small sauce pan and bring just to a boil. Reduce heat to simmer, add butter and vanilla, stirring vigorously. Serve warm over ice cream or pound cake.
