CrossPolitic & The Ninth Commandment

Transcript: Gabriel Rench: This, this to me is atrocious, because you know, our boys over at The Founders Ministry, they drop a trailer and within ten minutes of them dropping that trailer this past week, or a week and a half ago now, Al Mohler makes a statement. Akin makes a statement. People start pulling out of the trailer, out of the film, and so forth. Rachael and Matt, so Rachael goes on June 10th, Matt goes on I think June 12th, was it June 11th, and there’re discrepancies, serious discrepancies, in their sides of the story. So either Rachael is lying or misrepresenting the facts, or Matt Chandler is lying or misrepresenting the facts. That’s a big deal. And, we’re talking about something that’s significant in the church. And, not one SBC leader said a thing about these discrepancies.

Toby Sumpter: And, the center of the initial blowback was that there was a one point one and a half second clip of a blurred Rachael Denhollander with Owen Strachan’s…

David Shannon: Saying principalities and powers exerting pressure on us from the outside.

Toby Sumpter: Yeah, and the only thing I can think of is CASE IN POINT! Owen! Case in point! And, okay maybe we should’ve you know recognized that people were going to take this and twist this distract us from the point, but the point is absolutely true.

Let’s dissect Gabriel Rench’s comment first. Rench begins by stating that the spliced comments by Matt Chandler and Rachael Denhollander are “atrocious”, which means brutal, barbaric, barbarous, brutish, savage, vicious, wicked, cruel, nasty, ruthless, merciless…villainous, murderous, heinous, nefarious, monstrous, base, low, lowdown, vile, inhuman, infernal, dark, black, black-hearted, fiendish, hellish, diabolical, ghastly, horrible;

Rench then affectionately refers to the Founders Ministry as “Our boys”, followed by the assertion that there are “serious discrepancies” in their stories. Rench then accuses either Matt or Rachael (really just Rachael) of lying.

Toby Sumpter then jumps in saying they should’ve known people would “…take this and twist this to distract us from the point.” Sumpter then boils down the position of CrossPolitic to one brief, clear statement, “…the point is absolutely true.”

CrossPolitics Basic Talking Points:
• Atrocious
• Serious discrepancies
• Someone is lying (Rachael-Wink-Wink)
• People are twisting this
• They’re trying to distract us
• The point is absolutely true. Denhollander is principalities & powers.

It is CrossPolitic that is twisting to create a distraction. They took two video segments … one of Rachael Denhollander in a panel discussion hosted by the ERLC on June 10, 2019.

The other of Matt Chandler, during the 2019 SBC Annual Meeting (6/11/2019) addressing allegations that his church mishandled a report of a minor being sexually abused at a 2012 church camp.

CrossPolitic spliced together selected comments from both videos, out of context, to make it appear that there were ‘serious discrepancies’ and that ‘one of them is lying’. This is beyond unethical. It is a violation of the 8th commandment and it is sin.
